Artist Statement

contemplating mood

I paint because I like the tangibility of the medium and because I enjoy the process of painting (the journey), which is not so tangible.

My practice involves layering washes of paint while also experimenting with line and form: alternately creating, obscuring and revealing my marks or gestures until I reach a reflective ambiguity.

Spontaneity and chance are integral to my work: inspired by nature and human nature alike, my aim is to express the subtleties and the rawness found in both.
